Many clients often express concern about virtual psychotherapy. They believe that because they are not coming in to a physical office, their experience will not be the same or they will not reap the same benefits. Virtual therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy if the client dedicates a space and time free from distractions. This space should also be private in order to maintain confidentiality. There is so much that goes into communication--it happens at a verbal as well as at a non-verbal level and for that reason, both partners must be located in the same room when they are participating in couple's therapy. When clients follow these guidelines, virtual therapy can be just as effective as in-person therapy.
